Hasco Mounting Adhesives

Hasco has extensive experience in mounting adhesives.  We have a few products manufactured for us which will cover virtually any application without fail.  These products are all produced in North American facilities.

Things to consider when selecting a mounting adhesive which you may have not thought of before:

1. Is the adhesive going on flexible substrates?  If so, avoid rigid "carriers" such as polyester as they can cause tunneling and gaps in the middle of the print should the board be flexed.  More flexible carriers such as polypropylene or vinyl are a better fit on flexible substrates like thin acrylic, styrene, and Sintra.
2. Is the image going to end up outdoors?  For the most part, many of the new water-based adhesives are good enough for shorter-term outdoor graphics, but if you are going to go into extreme conditions or long-term outdoor use, you are better off with a solvent-based adhesive which will perform better in the elements.
3. Are you using glossy media?  If so, you should consider thicker adhesives.  A thicker adhesive will provide a smoother mount with less texture showing through the glossy surface of the print.

Mounting Adhesives: 

   Mounting adhesives are, by design, constructed of a carrier film which is coated on both sides with either permanent or removable adhesives.  The carrier films can be constructed of polyester (good primarily for only rigid substrates with no bend), polypropylene, and vinyl.  The adhesives are usually water-based, solvent, or 'hot-melt'/rubber.  Water-based adhesives are very good and would qualify in the vast majority of applications, while solvent-based adhesives might allow the user to sleep better at night if the application is in longer-term outdoor or extreme conditions. 

• S3 Mi Mount White: This is a permanent, solvent, white adhesive on a polypropylene carrier making it ideal for almost any application indoors or out.  The only limitation would be extreme cold applications. The white adhesive adds to opacity should the print allow a dark substrate below to show through.
• S5 Mi Mount Ultra:  Mi Mount Ultra is a permanent, white adhesive with solvent adhesive on a vinyl carrier which makes it good for all indoor and outdoor applications.  It is a thicker adhesive at 5mils which creates a smoother finish on glossy prints. This is the best adhesive Hasco offers. 
• RS5 Mi Mount Optically Clear Permanent:  An optically clear mounting adhesive meant for permanent bond with clear surfaces like glass and acrylic.
• S5 Mi Mount Optically Clear Removable:  An optically clear mounting adhesive which has a permanent bond with the image but removable bond with the clear surface it is applied to.  A great way to save money for second surface jobs as well as a good solution for on-site application.
